My new pinhole camera - entering another dimension of film photography
This past August of 2022 I purchased a new Kingpin medium format pinhole camera that captures photos in three different image sizes - 6x12, 6x9 and 6x6 using 120 roll film. You may ask, why would I want to create photos with technology that even pre dates the origins of capturing an image on photo sensitive material - which would eventually occur around the 1850's. Well, it's all part of the process that my photographic journey is taking me on. Felling pretty burnt out with digital image capture, that except for some real estate photography - by the end of 2019, taking photos for my own personal enjoyment or interests would become a very rare occasion.

It's now 2020 and my interest in digital image capture has pretty much smolder out completely, but by some covid lockdown twist of fate - that same year I once again started shooting and developing black and white film, and since then I have not slowed down or looked back. It's hard to explain but when I shoot film there is a strong emotional connection to the photos I create - especially when using an all mechanical manual camera and then developing the film myself, thereby relying on my own photographic abilities and not that of the camera's -there is a deep feeling of craftsmanship that I just wasn't feeling with digital anymore.

So of course - wanting to take my film photography one step further I decided to give pinhole photography a shot. Pinhole photography has taken my craft in a different but pleasant direction to say the least. Using a camera that has no lens and produces infinite focus - the tiny pinhole projects an image to the back of the camera which I can then capture on film - allowing me the ability to create some wonderful dreamy looking images. Pinhole photography has added a completely new dimension and impact to my film photography, creating a whole new approach to which I previsualize, compose and capture each scene.
